So, the much anticipated 2012 is here. The doomsday prophets are going to have a whole lot of fun this year and many will go through the recommended checklist, ready for whatever is to come. Everybody is trying to get some mileage out of the supposed end date, 21 December 2012. On New Year’s Eve, I opened a drink and on the inside of the bottle-top was a competition…” Win big before the end of the world”. Seriously? What would be the purpose of winning big if the end of the world is near? Others again will flock to the church and embrace religion, since at least if the doomsday prophets were right; their place in heaven has been booked. It amazes me how gullible people still are and all because of that single, powerful emotion called fear.
Dr. Wayne Dyer always asks people, “If you knew that you only had six more months left to live, what would you be doing”? So, now I am asking you, if 21 December 2012 is the actual end date, would you do what you are doing now? Would you still waste time in traffic, going to a deadbeat job to earn money that hardly covers the monthly bills? Would you still hold onto a grudge that resulted from an argument you cannot even remember? Or would the money in your bank account hold as much value? The answer to all of the above questions is most probably no. Why is it that we only re-evaluate what is important in life, when there is a threat to ours? Why wait? We all slip out of this human skin sooner or later. The only difference is we don’t know when.
My wish for 2012 is that we should all re-evaluate what is important.
Become more conscious of the planet and all its inhabitants.
Do what brings you joy, whatever that may be. Remember every one of us is here for a reason and we are all important. All you need to do is believe it and make it count.
